{J} too old for Halloween (maybe?)

J's school used this past week as their School Spirit week to give the kids a chance to dress up each day.  Although I know for a fact that one day involved dying J's hair blue and orange (school colors) the only picture I have was taken on Halloween when the kids were supposed to dress like someone famous.

Jake dressed up as "Jake" for State Farm Insurance...how appropriate.

Being too old for costumes and Halloween, J chose to just go hang out at a friend's house.  

However, he may (or may not) have heeded the call of free candy and adorned a cute pink unicorn head all in the name of anonymously collecting sugar.

{T} Panda time

Last year T successfully convinced me to buy him a panda costume the day after Halloween (here) and he has been looking forward to this year's Halloween ever since.  I wasn't sure if he'd change his mind but his love of pandas has endured and he has been wearing the costume a lot this week.  Fortunately for him we always have plenty of Halloween events; Boones Ferry Primary School Trick-or-Treat night, the ward Trunk-or-Treat and a friend's Halloween party.

{T} Soccer Wrap Up

We didn't plan on T playing soccer this season but then he chose to pursue it and his late registration put him on a different team with a different coach than what he has had in season's past.  His team didn't get a lot of wins to brag about but the new experience was a good learning opportunity for T and, in the end, he really enjoyed his team.  

One of the more notable things about this season was T choosing to be a goal keeper for his team.   Just like with everything he does, he gave it 110% which made him fun to watch.

{T} Taking up Flying

T and Rich have taken up a new pastime together....flying!

Ty has a remote control airplane and Rich got a drone and together they are both becoming pretty good at their individual airborne "toys".  They even spent an afternoon together at a meeting of a flying "club" out at the Aurora airport.  T was able to watch and learn from more experienced remote control pilots and he came home with new tips to try to improve his own skills.

Flying his airplane has ignited an all new interest and curiosity for T in anything flying related including talk of becoming a pilot one day.  Who knows...anything is possible and all careers begin somewhere.

{T} Urban Warrior

We are big-time fans of "American Ninja Warrior" at our house.  T's best buddy, Hayden, was having a birthday at the end of the month and we decided to give him an "adventure" for his birthday.  On a half-day of school I took T and Hayden to a local "ninja" gym where they could test their upper body strength and try their hand at all kinds of obstacles.  The boys had a great time and are my vote for American Ninja Warrior champs in about 15 years.

{J} Wood Wolverine's XC Season

J joined his middle school Cross Country team and he had a PHENOMENAL season!!!

It was a great season because he showed up!

It was amazing because he came in in the top 10 for every single race he ran (and in the top 5 in two of the races).

It was terrific because he was the 2nd place 7th grader for his school in every single race.

It was fantastic because he PR'ed (7:17:9 for a 2,000 meter) on his final race (and 4th place overall in that race).

It was awesome because he made great friends that worked together and supported each other.

J didn't start the season expecting to be a standout but he has grit and a hard work ethic.  I loved watching him put both to great use this season and to see his efforts pay off.

{K} there is a time to sleep

K has cousins that adore her!

When church let out they asked if they could come over to "hang out" and K put them off telling them she needed to take a nap before they came over.

Jonni asked why K needed a nap....and I mentioned K had been up very late.

Jonni's wise reply was "she needs to sleep when she is supposed to so she doesn't have to waste her time with her cousins to sleep".

I TOTALLY agree!!!

HEAR.....

I flew down to Utah for the weekend to attend Time Out for Women (TOFW) in Logan with K and my mom.  Best way to spend a weekend....uplifting messages with my favorite uplifting people!!!

{C} Logan or bust

Since K moved to Utah (and more specifically since she started school this fall) she and C have been enjoying their long distance relationship.  They apparently just needed 800 miles between each other to fully appreciate each other :)

C had a long weekend off of school and he actually chose to spend his own money on a flight to go spend the weekend with K to check out the college life.  

I thought the Welcome Package from K was a nice touch...complete with a USU shirt, ramen noodles and an Aggie Ice Cream certificate.

A little more diligence on my part would have been a good idea as apparently he arrived just in time for "True Aggie" night (to become a True Aggie you have to kiss a true aggie on the "A" at midnight).  Apparently the temptation for C was just too much and we now have two True Aggies in the family.  (K had taken care of becoming a True Aggie last month).

The rest of the weekend involved showing C around campus, attending a soccer game, pick up basketball at the ARC, "Cleaning the Sink" at Angie's and enjoying the beauty of Logan Canyon.  The only downside of the trip was the bed situation so by Sunday night we were online booking C a hotel room in Logan so that he could get a good nights sleep....ha ha!
