Celebrating #7 all week!

Last week was T's 7th birthday and we celebrated all week long.

On his actual birthday he got his breakfast choice (welsh cakes) and dinner choice (hamburgers) but that was about the extent of his birthday celebration because Rich was out of town and we were waiting to celebrate until he returned.

While daddy was out of town we did hold a "friends party".  

We went to the matinee of "Inside Out" and then went to the park for pizza and ice-cream sandwiches (and lots of running around and laying in the shade)

 

T's cake request was for a panda bear cake (panda's are his current favorite animal) but mommy convinced him that panda cake pops would be more fun.  I think he was okay with the panda parade.

With dad back in town we were commissioned to celebrate T's birthday by attending the hot air balloon launch that was happening as part of the Festival of the Balloons.

That little celebration meant we left the house at 5:30 a.m. - in time for a morning donut run on our way to the high school to watch the balloons.

And what birthday celebration would be complete without a few presents to open.

Our T is growing up!

Here is a just a little insight into T at seven years old....

Father's Day & "Can You Beat the Daddy 4.0"

Every year Rich wants to downplay Father's Day but I can't imagine not celebrating this terrific dad.  

In what has become a true tradition, Rich received the "Can You Beat the Daddy" box filled with a new batch of Minute to Win It games.

This year is was Kids vs. Dad

Game #1: Bite Me

Hands down the funniest start to the afternoon's activity because poor Rich could not even bend down far enough to get the first bag (you pick up the bag with your mouth but have to stay on your feet - no knees or hands).

We were all laughing so hard - especially when he shed his pants hoping that his inability to bend was due to the jeans.  Sadly, the jean removal did nothing for his score.....a big fat 0!

 

 

Game #2: Pink Elephant

Rich redeemed himself with this game because he was the only one able to stack the slinky on his forehead without using his hands.

 

 

Game #3: Iron Board Man

The loser in this game was our floor....as we discovered, through the rolling of marbles, that our family room floor has a significant slant to it.  Lesson learned...always take marbles in your pocket as you look at houses to buy.

Game #4: Spudnik

One minute to insert 5 straws into a raw potato and then balance an m&m on each straw.

The advantage was to those who went later in the game because they definitely learned tips by watching those that went before.

Rich went last and had a perfect score!

 

Game #5: Pudding Pictionary

I came up with 12 words about Rich thinking that the kids would never get through that many.  

We had some pretty good drawers (and some pretty good guessers) because all the words were drawn and guessed.

Maybe the kids just know their dad really well :)
