Zina Stevens Holbrook 1924-2015

September 27, 2015 would have been my grandparents 68th wedding anniversary and what it ended up being was their reunion after five very long years apart.
Grandpa passed away in November 2010.
Grandma passed away last week on September 20th.
We find great comfort in our belief that they have been reunited with each other.
Theirs is one of life's great love stories and by that I mean two people who you knew, by just being in their presence, that they loved each other deeply.

When I think of grandma I almost always think of her as an extension of grandpa.
He was the outgoing storyteller and she sat next to him and smiled at his stories.
He was the strong, hardworking farmer and she bottled and blanched everything he brought in from the garden.
He poured her coffee from the pot and she poured his juice.
And through it all he absolutely adored her and treated her with love, respect and kindness.
And that is why, despite our missing her being here with us, we take peace and comfort in her passing as we imagine their joy of being together again.

K's after-school activity

K has jumped into high school with both feet!

After a summer of doing conditioning training with the high school soccer team, and trying out for both soccer and volleyball, she had to choose one fall sport and she chose to pursue volleyball.

This first week of school saw three after school practices that got her home around 7:00 p.m., two away games that got her home after 9:00 and after 10:00, and a weekend tournament that lasted seven hours.
All that volleyball on top of  homework and early morning seminary!
(see what I mean about jumping in with both feet?)
Needless to say that I haven't seen much of my daughter in the past week :)

Despite the busy schedule, K is thriving.
She has proven herself as a leader on the volleyball team....there have been a couple of games that she has played the entire game without a break and she has been asked to be one of the team captains.
She remains positive as the team is learning to play with each other and her coach has already recognized K for that trait.
K is really coming into her own and I am amazed at the young lady that she is and that she is becoming.
I love this girl of mine!

(here are a few photos of some games...most are blurry...I need to figure out a way to get better photos)
