W.E.R.K. & Day of Service

May is the month for service projects!
As desperately as our own yard needs some work, we spent two Saturdays in May working in the community doing yard work elsewhere.

The first project was the Wilsonville W.E.R.K. day - an annual work day that combines the effort of community volunteers to tackle projects around the city.  Our groups's assigned job was filling holes and spreading bark dust at the community dog park.
Our "action shot" below actually made the front page of a community mailer!

The following weekend we joined OSU alumni as part of the OSU Day of Service.
We signed up to help work in a garden at a local elementary school
We were joined by a number of student athletes from OSU as well as other community members.  The work went quickly and I was pleased with how my own kids kept themselves busy and helpful for the entire morning.

Now we just need a few more weekends to focus on OUR yard!

Mother's Day 2015

My kids are growing up.
I know this because the "breakfast in bed" (actually served at the table) is getting significantly better while the number of hand written notes and homemade cards are decreasing.  *sigh*

I'm still a pretty lucky mom nonetheless!
(Notice that I am still the tallest person in our group shot but I know this may be the last year I take that title)

J still stayed true to form and wrote me this amazing poem, along with painting me a beautiful piece of artwork.

Wood 2015 Track team

Look at the daughter with the perfect celebrity hand....blocking the shots of the paparazzi.
K's latest and greatest is spring track.

She is running on the 4x100 team as well as running the 400m and the 200m.

I am thrilled!
(except last week when it was raining and the temperatures reached sub-zero and we were there for three hours and we had to walk uphill both ways)
But other than that week, I am thrilled for K!
