{K} Driver's License....FINALLY!!!

Her 16th birthday was 14 months and 2 days ago but today was (finally) the magical day of walking into the DMV with a permit in hand and walking out with a license.  Not a bad trade off!

1,169 books

Our library has been undergoing a major remodel which has required books being moved and shifted and moved again.  Today the boys and I spent some time volunteering and giving these books their new home!

(and just FYI...I didn't actually count the number of books we moved...the title was just a random number)

Chasing Waterfalls

Today we took a perfect Spring Break afternoon trip to Silver Falls State Park to hike the Trail of Ten Falls.  I was determined to see waterfalls and we were not disappointed.  It was nearly nine miles of hiking to get all 10 waterfalls but we did it....even though I can't determine all ten waterfalls from looking through my photos.

***funny trait of J to remember...he is the energizer bunny and can go and go and go.  But he cannot stop.  Literally!  He did not particularly want to do this hike so he just plowed ahead of us and he would stop at each waterfall to wait for us but then when we caught up he would want to start off to the next waterfall.  We would want to stop and take pictures and he wanted none of that.  I think by the end he was pretty exasperated  at me and the feeling may have been mutual :) ***

{T} Sunday afternoon Jenga

Perfect Sunday afternoon spent with this cute boy, sunshine pouring in through the window, playing game after game of Jenga and laughing every time the tower came tumbling down.

{Broadway} Hamilton x 2

The Broadway musical "Hamilton" has taken Broadway by storm and we are huge fans!  

Can't get enough of the music and know every song by heart!  

I was thrilled when my Broadway on Tour season tickets included Hamilton coming to Portland this season.  Then began the competition between K and J to see who would get my second ticket.  

K's argument was that she was older...true

J's argument was that he was more of a historian...true

I truly can't recall the tipping argument but ultimately K was my Hamilton "date".

And can I just say that it was everything I'd hoped it would be (and more)!

Ever.

Well, obviously J was meant to go because there was a daily lottery being done (because Hamilton is so popular that it sold out so quickly) so I entered every single day and I asked Rich to enter every single day.  In the end Rich won tickets two days after K and I had gone so Rich and J were able to have their own Hamilton date. 

Let's just say J was a way bigger fan than Rich so next Hamilton run it will be J and I all the way!

{K} National Puppy Day

This girl is such a puppy lover!!!

I'm sure she was thrilled to find out today was National Puppy Day (did you know there was such a thing?) which gave her the perfect reason to go visit the puppies at Critter Cabana.

{T} Native American presentation

The entire 3rd grade at BFPS put on a presentation about Native Americans in Oregon history.

Ty's class specifically presented about the North Western Coastal tribes and he was in the group that studied "Whalers".  He (and his group) wrote a report, created a visual aid and made an artifact (harpoon).

I feel like J was just presenting his Native American report and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic on how quickly my youngest is growing up.

End of the Oregon Trail

This morning Rich and I took J and T on a field trip family outing.  

It just felt like a field trip due to us going to the End of the Trail Interpretive Center in OR City.  

We learned all about the early settlers of Oregon, which was fascinating to me as a non-Oregonian that did not learn OR history in 4th grade.  For my Oregonian boys it was a great review/preview of what they learned/will learn in 4th grade.

There was a lot to see and do and we spent a couple of hours.  We had a great tour guide, we explored all the exhibits and the boys even made homemade candles.

One month and counting.....

In exactly one month these two darling human beings are getting married and we are beyond thrilled!!!
